If you are creating a store with a large catalog, it may be more efficient for you to create the catalog using a spreadsheet then, using the Import Catalog tool, upload the file from your local hard drive to our server.
Accurate Inventory Count.
Products and items in your store catalog always have a current inventory level, showing how many units of each product and item are available at any given time. Products for sale in your store with only one variation are tracked by a product number.
The system only records inventory values for catalog products or items that shoppers can buy. A shopper cannot choose to buy the product wool sweater if there are several sizes and colors of wool sweater from which to choose. In this case, the system keeps track of the inventory for each item, instead of monitoring the parent product.
Products and items without inventory in stock are still displayed in your store catalog. Shoppers can buy a product when it is out of stock. It is useful to display out of stock merchandise because it generates interest in the product or item. Seasonal or special sale items are good examples of merchandise that may not always be stocked in your store. When you process the order, the Order Details page indicates that there is not enough inventory in stock to fulfill the order.
If you do not want to display an out of stock product or item, you can deselect the Publish check box on the General page of the Product or Item Properties notebook. |
